Organization-based roles

There are 3 kinds of roles for a user in an organization:

Organization Collaborator

An organization collaborator is a person working on an project in an organization (translator, language coordinator, observer, manager). A collaborator doesn’t necessarily have permissions to edit a project or an organization.

Organization Admin

An organization admin can:

  • Create, delete, archive projects for the organization,
  • Add and remove Project Users of all roles,
  • Create and delete Teams,
  • Add and remove Team members of all roles,
  • Assign and unassign projects to different Teams,

An organization owner can do all of the above, and is the only person who can manage the organization’s billing and subscription.

Project or Team-based roles

There are 4 kinds of roles for a user in a Project or Team:

Observer (formerly: visitor)

An observer can view a project or a team’s projects in all languages and can participate to discussions. He doesn’t have permissions to translate or proofread anything.

A translator can view a project or a team’s projects in the language specified. He can also submit translations in a specific language.

A translator can also have the following permissions:

  • Permission to proofread other people’s translations
  • Permission to proofread his own translations

Language Coordinator

A language coordinator has the same permissions as a translator, but also has the permission to add or remove translators in his language on a Team or Project.

The role of manager is intended for your company’s developers. A manager can do all of the above, and also:

  • Access and edit the project in all languages,
  • Add and remove project languages,
  • Add and delete files,
  • Invite new managers and language coordinators,
  • Change project-level settings.
