    Diaspora does have two kinds of public messages, ones that are available to all logged on users and ones that are public to even not logged on users.

    This is not true. A public post is available to everybody who got a link to it, finds it via tag search or discovered it through other means. A post posted to "All aspects" is available to all people you're sharing with / you're following, that is all people that are in one of your aspects. This is still a limited post, just as if you had only selected one or two aspects. There's no "pulic to diaspora only".
