Bit of a circle :)
So I filed a support request with WT to fix the plural rules for gd which indeed were missing but then I saw that Diaspora was still showing ZERO, ONE, OTHER and pinged a message back at them.
Their response was:

These is not a plural segment that can be translated using the pluralization rules. These were added as 3 singular segments named “aspects.zero”, “aspects.one” and “aspects.other”.
In order to fix that a project manager should merge these 3 segments into one plural segment so that it can be properly translated into other languages.

Good catch, this was another one I could drop :)
