We’ve added a new safeguard to help protect your translations from accidental overwrites.
The Problem
Batch operations are powerful—they let you update hundreds or thousands of segments at once. But with great power comes great responsibility. We’ve seen cases where users accidentally ran operations like “Machine Translate” or “Translate Complete Matches” on their entire project without realizing it would overwrite their existing, carefully-crafted translations.
The Solution
Now, when you try to run a potentially destructive batch operation without first filtering your segments by status, you’ll see a warning dialog asking you to confirm your choice.
This warning appears when:
- You select Translate Complete Matches, Machine Translate, or Copy text from source
- AND you haven’t filtered to show only untranslated segments
The dialog reminds you that existing translations may be overwritten and asks if you want to continue.
Best Practice
To avoid this warning (and protect your translations), filter your segments by status before running these operations. For example, select “Untranslated” from the status filter to only apply machine translation to segments that don’t already have translations.
