The most direct translation would be "MERCADO" (Market). I do not think we have a correct word for Marketplace. Using the main concept of translation of the word "LOJA VIRTUAL" (e-commerce or virtual store). I think it is better to use the term "MERCADO VIRTUAL" (virtual market) for all translations that have the word Marketplace.

Thanks for starting the conversation about this. It is good to be consistent and probably the Brazilian translator team is best in figuring out which term is best.

It was a bit tricky also in Finnish to come up with proper translation for marketplace. Probably it's wise to use different word that is used for single vendor online stores as many people already make the confusion even in english when we talk about marketplaces and they think of online stores. So it might be good if the word includes the info that it is more a marketplace (many sellers) than a shop (one seller).

So this just my few thoughts about this. Generally you are free to discuss which term makes most sense for Brazilian audience.

I think "Mercado" is good, and lot of better than "Loja Virtual" (ecommerce).

I vote to keep "Mercado" as you suggested.

Since there was a discrepancy between the different translations for marketplace (PT_BR), like: comunidade (community), mercado (market) and even the word ‘marketplace’. I had already translated everything to “mercado virtual” (marketplace). If everyone agrees to a verdict on the correct translation, we can change all translations for this new choice, like: mercado (market).

Raphael, between "Mercado" e "Comunidade", maybe "Comunidade" is better what do you think? ;)

It sounds more natural and less intrusive, since it relate to a group of people with a "comun goal".

    It's just my 2cents :)

    Chris,

Aguardo algum feedback!

    Att,
    Raphael.
