In Norway we usually distinguis the tax term tax into income tax and special taxes (VAT, alcohol tax etc).

The majority of businesses will pay 28 % income tax based on their gross result at the end of the fiscal year and most products have a 25 % value added tax. Normally the accountant is more concerned with the V.A.T. and not the income tax (as the income tax is fixed and calculated at the end of the fiscal year).

    The Norwegian words are:
Skatt (used when discussing income tax)
    Avgift (VAT and other taxes)

I think the latter would be most fitting.
