what for is the counting? i mean, is it the number of how much a certain post is shared, or the number of shared posts by a user?

Looks like it's the number of new connections between users made in a given timeframe (daily, weekly, monthy). That is the number of new connections made between any two people. (A added B to an aspect or B added A to an aspect)
