Name here refers to person name or company name?

  2. Right now, this could refer to either. Is that a problem in Ukrainian language? If yes, I will rework this.

In Ukrainian (and also in Russian) these are two different words.

  4. I'm looking into this and this string is used really everywhere like "name of bank account", "name of customer", "name of plugin", "name of general ledger account", "name of tax code" just to name a few.

I would assume there must be a generic term for "name" of anything in Ukrainian language, is there? Perhaps "назва"?

Назва is for objects (companies, bank accounts, etc)
І'мя is for people and could refer either to first name or full name.

  6. Then "Назва" captures meaning of this string perfectly for now.

Sorry I 'm opening this now, after all those years.

In Greek the Company's name is called "Επωνυμία" but regular names like bank name are called "Όνομα" (Google translate translate both of them to "name").

So there are 2 different words. The word "Επωνυμία" is also used legaly.

For example: I coffee shop's name/όνομα will be "Costa Coffee" (the brand), but it's "Επωνυμία" is "A.Vlachos & Co General Partnership".

So in Greek we have to have 2 different terminologies, 1 reserved only for Company Name.

  8. One solution will be to have separate terms such as "Business Name", "Customer Name", "Supplier Name" and then generic one "Name" for everything else. How about "Employee Name" ? Is there special word for it or generic "Name" is sufficent?

Well if you ask me, yes there should be a different name for almost everything. Considering also extensions, that would be also helpful. So yes I prefer Employee Name than just name, and extension wide, I prefer different variable. I don't know If I speak for the majority though. I think that it will be better in custom themes also.

From the translation point of view I believe that "Company Name = Επωνυμία" and just "Name = Όνομα" is perfectly fine. Suppliers are also businesses so it's again "company name".

  10. As this will require some changes to the program, can you please post new topic to the forum? I'll put it into "ideas" so I can keep track of this and will implement it.
