What does "emailing ical" mean? Is the whole calendar sent via Email or are parts of it sent to import in another ical?

"ical" refers to the file extension, not the Apple calendar application.
Basics of the .ical extension
An alternative to the usual way of exporting/sharing user-generated data, but in a file-format supported by many calendar-type applications. My apologies if this didn't realy have anything to do with what you asked.
