IMO nein, das Kommando zum herunterladen eines Git repository ist 'git clone', "Clone the repository" benutzt also gewissermaßen Git spezifische Terminologie. Diese kann man entsprechend nicht übersetzen, daher passt eine Sinn Übersetzung hier gut. Kopie ist ein verbreiteter Begriff, ich finde eine Analogie aus der Biologie, die Klon ja irgendwie ist, nicht nötig.

ich kann mir halt nix drunter vorstellen, hab im wörterbuch geschaut und außer lager, endlager usw. hab ich halt u.a. auch das gefunden... mal abwarten, ob noch jmnd. dazu was sagt...

Git lässt repository unübersetzt und das finde ich auch gut so (https://github.com/git/git/blob/master/po/de.po).

Repository könnte man mit Quellen-Archiv übersetzen. Darin befindet sich der aktuelle Sourcecode eines Projekts, sowie alle vorherigen Versionen.
Das unübersetzt zu lassen finde ich eine gute Idee.

Und zwar dann auch als "Repository", "Repositories" ist der englische Plural, sieht also erst recht komisch aus.

Die meisten Paketmanager nennen die Quellen Repositories, ja. Diese Art von Repository ist hier aber überhaupt nicht gemeint, siehe vorherige Diskussion.

Mir ging es um die Vollständigkeit (kann ja sein, dass die Übersetzung gemeinhin nicht bekannt sei) halber.
