I struggle with: 'the range with the highest number of assignments of those in the list'.
'Those in the list' can mean 'those assignments' I filtered for. The 'top performer' is the one who had most of these selected assignments.
Technically 'those in the list' could mean those people in the list. As in, I filter for let's say demo en reading only, but then some have been busy with other things as well, and they come on top: 'of all the persons in the list you filtered for, they have the most assignments, including ones you did not filter for'.
My gut feeling (which I have followed for now) says the former rather than the latter, but it is a bad guide. I'd like to retain the ambiguity, but have to choose between 'those' for things (assignments in the list) and those for persons (in the list).

what about changing the manual as following:

to the right side of the name, indicators help you to identify those, who have been used for certain assignments (as further described below) less frequently or not recently 
☐☐☐☐☐ reveals that s.o. had none of the assignments 
☑☑☑☐☐ stands for the group with average number of assignments 
☑☑☑☑☑ identifies the ones, most often assigned 
🌕 represents the longest, and 🌑 the shortest time range

this is the next bullet point:

 the filter buttons [2] at the top left determine which category or type of assignments to take into consideration for the details

I hope it is more clear, and if you still have a suggestion how to improve the instruction, let me know asap, to adjust it before we release.
Basically, the persons in the list are split into 6 different groups, depending on the number of assignments each one has in relation to one another (assignments of the types, which are taken into consideration depending on the overall settings and filters), and get accordingly the number of ticked checkboxes. 5 ticked checkboxes though can mean 5 or 100 assignments, depending on how many assignments the others have, but indicates that the one is a 'top performer' compared to the others in the list.
The same applies also to the time ranges (there are also different moon phases) but I don't think it is necessary to go too much into details, since many things become obvious, if the instructions are compared to what one sees in the app.

To me, the problem is not necessarily in the manual.
Your first option answers my question: 's.o. had none of THE assignments'. Meaning the particular ones you filtered for I presume.

This is what I wanted to know, because: you can filter to show everyone who had a demo , and say this sister had the most demo's so she comes out on top; or you can filter for demo's again and say this brother had one demo but he had a higher combined total (including non-demo) then anyone else in this list. In which case he'd come on top.

Your answer says it is the former, which I suspected. So I'll check my translation. If you think it is necessary to adapt the strings, I'll find an email.

And yeah it is true things usually become clear once you see the final product. Actually working with TB sometimes prompts me to correct a translation for that reason. Having to make a decision up front is sometimes tricky.
